| Description | Walt Horan, Representative in Congress from the 5th District of the State of Washington, held office from 1943 to 1964. This collection includes: Personal and official correspondence, invitations, government documents, printed material, material on legislation and appropriations, working papers, records of services rendered constituents in their personal and official, civil and military intercourse with the government, communications with constituents through radio, television and newsletters, and campaign and other national, regional and local political materials. The Subject Files series (Series 5) includes several boxes of materials under the subject "Indians." These files, arranged chronologically, cover many topics, including: Chief Joseph; education of Indian children; various peoples and reservation lands; land use; logging; mining; health care; assimilation; and the Chief Joseph Dam. |
