Feature Films in the Washington State University Libraries
Search Tips

Title Search Language Search Date Search Selected Genres

Browse entire collection Browse all DVD Browse all VHS

This filmography is intended to provide more search options than Griffin in locating feature films.

The Title Search field is obvious. You can enter all or part of the title of any foreign film in either its original or translated form. Entering a director's name may bring up some films by that director, though this feature is not thoroughly implemented.

To do a Language Search, choose a language from the scrolling menu. Notice that films are not listed by country, but by language; so films from Mexico, Chile, and Spain will all be found under “Spanish.” But there are also two regional search terms: “Africa” and “Latin America.” The latter would find films in Brazilian Portuguese as well as those in Spanish.

The Date Search field may be used with an asterisk for a wild card character. For instance, enter “196*” to find all films in the collection released during the 1960's.

The Selected Genres are very limited, but will be useful to some people. No new genres will be added.

“Browse entire collection” lets you go through the collection, including both DVD's and VHS tapes. “Browse all DVD” and “Browse all VHS” are self-explanatory.

Movies in the collection on 35mm or 16mm film are not included in this filmography.
